Lead Tech/ ArchitectMobile App - Tech Lead / Architect
We are looking for a Mobile App Architect who is passionate about designing integrated and scalable platforms, to help us launch the next generation of best-in-class mobile apps to the millions of guests of our Butlin’s, Haven and Warner brands.

Directly impacting what we build, and how we build it, this exciting opportunity will see you leading engineers alongside an autonomous squad of product managers and experience designers. Your goal will be to architect a platform that enables the product to deliver the magical holidays we want every one of our guests to experience, now and in the future.
From finding and booking the perfect break, to experiencing the multitude of activities and restaurants on offer, the products you build will reach the hands of hundreds of thousands of people every week, and over 4 million annually.
Whilst we have office space in Hemel Hempstead and London, you’ll have plenty of time working out and about at our 60 locations around the UK; areas of outstanding natural beauty, castles, stately homes and endless beaches. Being alongside our guests and our team members is key to us understanding how to create digital magical moments that last a lifetime.
•Directly own the mobile app architecture, build strategy and tech stack across 3 of the UK’s largest brands, serving 4 million annual users
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and build an app that suits the needs of guests and stakeholders and scales predictably
•Communicate system requirements to software development teams
•Evaluate and select appropriate software or hardware and suggest integration methods
•Define and maintain software delivery principles and guidelines based on industry best-practice
•Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
•Proactively improve existing skills, taking on new technical skills as appropriate, and continuously seek to expand business knowledge
•Stay current on latest technical trends and practices and champion this mindset with team members
•Oversee assigned programs (e.g. conduct code review) and provide guidance to team members (address technical concerns, ideas and suggestions)
•Ensure the implementation of agreed architecture and infrastructure and that solutions meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
•Monitor systems to ensure they meet both user needs and business goals
Skills and experience
•You’ve done it before! Large scale consumer apps aren’t new to you. Proven experience architecting scalable mobile app environments gives you a deep understanding of the available tech stack options (native, cross platform and hybrid) and you have the ability to clearly outline the pros and cons of each approach based on our vision, both now and with an eye on the future
•You ideally have a BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
•Experience with using AWS to build the functions and support that the app will require, enabling this team to be largely independent
•Familiarity with deployment and administration of each tech development framework, and the coding languages and toolkits that support them. For example:
oNative iOS (Objective-C, Swift; Apple Xcode; iOS SDK)
oNative Android (Java, Kotlin; Android Studio; Android SDK)
